Rufa | Arbore Tribe

£10,500.00

Hair provides one of the clearest visual markers of female life stages among the Arbore. Girls traditionally shave the head before marriage; married women allow the hair to grow and arrange it in braids. Rufa’s long hair therefore belongs to the opposite end of a visual journey that begins with the shaved heads of Arbore girlhood — the changing body carrying traces of a life already lived.

EDITIONS

Each photograph in this collection is available within a carefully defined edition structure, preserving the distinction between limited collectible works and bespoke architectural commissions.

Artist’s Proof

AP 1/1
841 × 594 mm

Artist’s Proofs are currently available for acquisition.

Produced to the same archival specification as the Exhibition Edition, each Artist’s Proof is signed, embossed and individually marked AP, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Only one Artist’s Proof exists for each photograph. Once acquired, no further Artist’s Proof of that photograph will be produced.

£10,500

Exhibition Edition

Selected photographs within the collection have been designated for an Exhibition Edition limited to ten numbered works worldwide, together with one Artist’s Proof.

Edition of 10 + 1 AP
841 × 594 mm

Printed on 315 g/m², 100% cotton archival fine art paper, each photograph is individually proofed, printed and inspected under the artist’s supervision.

Each work is signed, numbered and embossed with the artist’s stamp, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

The numbered Exhibition Editions have not yet been released.

Framing

Each Exhibition Edition and Artist’s Proof is archivally mounted onto an acid-free substrate, ensuring the photograph remains perfectly flat while providing additional protection and longevity.

The work is double mounted, retaining a considered white border, and presented within a handcrafted hardwood box frame.

Museum-grade, optically clear, anti-reflective glass sourced from Switzerland completes the presentation, providing 99% UV protection while preserving the clarity, colour and detail of the photograph.

Exhibition Editions and Artist’s Proofs are produced to a fixed size and specification.

Prices exclude shipping.

ARCHITECTURAL PRINTS

Selected photographs from the collection may also be commissioned as Architectural Prints, custom-produced for residential, commercial, hospitality and interior installations.

Created specifically for the space in which they will be seen, Architectural Prints can be produced in custom dimensions and a range of contemporary presentation formats, including Diasec, acrylic and aluminium mounting.

In these formats, the photographic image becomes an integral part of the finished piece, permanently bonded to its presentation and intended to remain as such.

Architectural Prints are unsigned and unnumbered and exist entirely outside the limited Exhibition Editions and Artist’s Proofs.

Please enquire to discuss dimensions, presentation and pricing.

Production & Delivery

Each work is produced individually to order and undergoes final inspection before leaving the studio.

Works are dispatched from Cape Town, South Africa, with tracking details provided upon shipment.

As each work is individually produced and finished, please allow sufficient time for production prior to dispatch. Where the artist is travelling, production may be scheduled for his return to ensure that each work receives the same level of personal oversight.

In the unlikely event that a work is lost or damaged in transit, please contact the studio promptly so that the matter can be resolved.

All dimensions are stated as accurately as possible. Minor variations may occur as a result of the individual production, mounting and framing process.
