Thindel - Fulani Tribe

The Fulani are one of the largest ethnic groups in West Africa. It is customary for the Fulani women to have facial tattoos, particularly around the lips and mouth. Known as Tchoodi, the tattoos represent age, lineage, beauty and status.
The Fulani women are also known for their gold earrings called kwottone kanye. These are around five inches in length and made from solid gold. Sadly, due to their value, many have been sold, and the families that still have them rarely wear them outside of their homestead.
